Bullard
Founded in 1898, Bullard is a leading manufacturer of high-quality personal protective equipment and systems that are marketed worldwide. Product lines include thermal imagers, hard hats, firefighter and rescue helmets, supplied air respirators, powered air-purifying respirators, and air quality equipment. Durability, comfort, safety, quality and innovation are hallmarks of every Bullard product line.
Bullard traces its heritage back to 1898 in San Francisco where Edward Dickinson Bullard supplied essential equipment to gold and copper miners. His son, E.W. Bullard, returned from World War I, and began a relentless pursuit to understand his customers and the problems they faced working in dangerous mines. In 1919, the Hard Boiled® “hard hat” was invented, giving homage to his doughboy army helmet. This innovative design and approach to problem solving represents the spirit of innovation and collaboration that forms the foundation of Bullard today.
The Hard Boiled® hard hat grew exponentially in popularity, leading to the development of the first Bullard fire helmet, which provided head protection to a broader market. As Bullard’s quest in understanding and protecting customers grew, the Company continued to help solve their problems, protecting them while in dangerous environments. Bullard went on to work closely with Joseph B Strauss, engineer of the Golden Gate Bridge to adapt Bullard hats to protect bridge workers. This customer intimacy further led to the design of innovative supplied-air respiratory solutions to protect the lungs of steelworkers blasting the Golden Gate Bridge.
