KUCHING — Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can strike anyone, anywhere, at any time. When it occurs, every single passing minute without intervention slashes a victim’s chance of survival by 7% to 10%. Recognizing the critical importance of immediate emergency response, 20 dedicated employees from Jabatan Muzium Sarawak took a massive proactive step toward community and workplace safety today.
2026-05-26, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bilik Mesyuarat Niah, Pejabat Jabatan Muzium Sarawak, our specialized training team successfully delivered an intensive, high-impact workshop: “Nihon Kohden AED Training: Function & Procedure for Handling the Nihon Kohden AED Unit.”
Equipping the Custodians of Heritage with Lifesaving Skills While Jabatan Muzium Sarawak protects and preserves the rich history and cultural heritage of Sarawak, their team members are now fully equipped to protect something even more irreplaceable: human life. The 2-hour practical session focused deeply on eliminating the natural hesitation that often surrounds medical emergencies, transforming anxiety into absolute confidence.
The practical, hands-on syllabus guided the 20 participants through:
-
Understanding the Function: Demystifying the intelligent automated technology inside the Nihon Kohden AED unit and learning how it safely analyzes cardiac rhythms.
-
Step-by-Step Handling Procedures: Masterfully executing the sequence from turning on the device, correct electrode pad placement, to listening explicitly to the unit’s automated voice prompts.
-
Seamless Emergency Coordination: Integrating efficient AED deployment smoothly alongside uninterrupted Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

By training on their exact facility equipment, these 20 individuals can now act flawlessly, quickly, and without fear if an emergency arises on museum grounds.
A Shared Commitment to Workplace Readiness Though this quick awareness and equipment deployment refresher did not issue formal certifications, the true reward was immediate and undeniable: a workplace that is 100% safer today than it was yesterday. The enthusiasm, focus, and sharp execution shown by the Jabatan Muzium Sarawak staff proved their profound dedication to protecting both their colleagues and the visiting public.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the management and team at Jabatan Muzium Sarawak for prioritizing health, safety, and rapid emergency intervention. It was an honor to deliver this training!
