Rotary Club of Ara Damansara Installs Lifesaving AED at Evolve Concept Mall

Ara Damansara, July 25, 2025 – The Rotary Club of Ara Damansara (RCAD) has taken a significant step toward improving community health and emergency preparedness by installing a

public Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at Evolve Concept Mall. This installation marks a new milestone for the club’s ongoing “A Life-Saver in Every Home” (ALEH) campaign, which aims to increase public access to AEDs and provide citizens with the skills to respond to cardiac emergencies.

The official launch event, held on Saturday, included an on-site training session conducted by St. John Ambulance Malaysia. Over 20 participants received vital CPR and AED training, reinforcing the project’s focus on both awareness and practical action.

A Powerful Tool for the Public

“Cardiac arrest can strike anyone, anywhere, and every second counts,” said Mr. Ling Hau Ching, President of RCAD (2024–2025). “By placing an AED in a high-traffic community space like Evolve Concept Mall, we are giving the public a powerful tool that could help save lives.”

The project was made possible through a global grant from the MDRT Foundation, which was secured with the recommendation of Past President Teh Mei Li. She is a chapter member of the Rotary Club of Ara Damansara and a 27-time qualifying Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). RCAD also extended its appreciation to Assistant Governor Gordan Vong for his support during the grant application process.

The event was attended by special guest YB Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, Selangor’s Islamic Affairs and Cultural Innovation Executive Councillor and Seri Setia Assemblyman. He praised the initiative, highlighting how public access defibrillation can significantly improve survival rates for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases.

A Community-Wide Collaboration

Evolve Concept Mall’s management was also recognized for their support in hosting the device and accommodating the training activities.

Mr. Ling emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, stating, “This is more than an installation—it’s a collaboration between NGOs, the private sector, and the community to create safer shared spaces.”

The Rotary Club of Ara Damansara hopes this initiative will inspire other corporate and community partners to join the effort and expand AED accessibility throughout the Klang Valley. The club plans to extend its ALEH campaign to more locations, schools, and residential areas in the coming months.
